The Science Behind Jurassic Park (December 14th, 2024)
Universal and Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film “Jurassic Park” was an absolute spectacle when it first hit theaters June 11th, and to this day stands as an icon in cinematic history and people’s hearts. Based on the novel written by Michael Crichton, it features a slew of dinosaurs that have become part of most people’s regular vocabulary, such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptor! But being a movie, Hollywood took some creative liberties to make this wonder of the big screen.
Its now pretty common that Jurassic Park gets brought up in talks with paleontologists about what is wrong with the dinosaurs in the film, but is there anything the film got right? Also is Jurassic Park even possible? Find out in this special Fossil Team class!
